Wednesday Morning Rangers Notes: Welcome Back To 2008

I don't believe I've fully reacclimatized to the feeling of absolutely wasted baseball games:

- Darren O'Day has officially been placed on the 60-day disabled list with a partial tear of the labrum in his left hip, and will undergo surgery tomorrow in Nashville; the contract of right-hander Ryan Tucker has been purchased from Triple-A Round Rock (Anthony Andro, Fort Worth Star-Telegram)

- Matt Harrison posted his shortest start last night since a three-inning, seven-run effort against the Angels on September 19th, 2008, this time yielding an identical seven earned runs over three innings (60 pitches) on eight hits and three walks; when queried about his poor effort after the game, Harrison remarked, "I'll take what I can from this and apply it to the next start. When I'm out there running tomorrow I'll try to run that madness out of myself. I know I have to rebound from that. It was a rough start. I just have to get over it." (Richard Durrett, ESPNDallas.com)

- As reported by ESPN.com's Jason Grey yesterday: "You really try to not to read too much into two innings of an extended spring training outing. However, it's been a long time since the surgery, and it's not just about what his radar readings are, but the lack [of] improvement in those readings since our last information seven months ago. Sitting 78-82 and topping at 84 may not seem like a long way from sitting in the high 80s and touching 90, but it is. Pitching is obviously not all about lighting up the gun, but Webb needs that velocity to make that sinker work the way we've come to expect. [...] At the very least, Webb still appears to be a very long way off." (ESPN.com)
